I`ve made a terrible sin (and may Hallah forgive me) and had sexual intercourse.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Salamoualikoum

I`ve made a terrible sin (and may Hallah forgive me) and had sexual intercourse.

I know what I`ve done is wrong and I pray and worship Allah every single day and ask for forgiveness.

However now, I`m pregnant. I know that abortion is haram but my family , as much as his family will not accept it(family honour).

His parents will never accept us to get married because our different cultures (he is from Pakistan and I am Moroccan). We do both know what we`ve done is wrong.

So if I have an abortion, I would have sin twice, Zina and abortion. I suppose I should keep the baby.

But it is very frightening bevause I dont want my baby to be wothout a father.

Please advise on the situation.

thank you.

Answer:

Zina pregnant

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Statements: I`ve made a terrible sin (and may Hallah forgive me) and had sexual intercourse.
I know what I`ve done is wrong and I pray and worship Allah every single day and ask for forgiveness.

Whatever deeds one might have done,  if one turns to Allah Subhanah in sincere Taubah and seeks forgiveness,  Allah Subhanah has promised in the Holy Quran that He will forgive all the sins of such a believer,  even if one has committed the gravest sin of all: ‘Shirk’!

The conditions or ways to seek sincere Taubah or Repentance from the Merciful Lord are:

One is aware that he has sinned,  and feels sorry and ashamed at his sin.

Makes a solemn covenant and promise with Allah that he will not repeat his sin again.

Turns to Allah and seeks forgiveness,  before he has met with his appointment of death.

Is a believer and does righteous good deeds thereafter.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumur verses 53-54: (O Prophet) say: “O My servants who have wronged their own souls….Do not despair of Allah’s Mercy!  Surely,  Allah forgives all sins.   He indeed is the All Forgiving,  All Merciful.   Return to your Lord and submit to Him before the scourge overtakes you;  for then you may get no help from anywhere.”

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verse 135-136: Allah likes such good people very much, who,  if ever they commit a base deed or wrong their own soul by the commission of a sin,  remember Allah instantly,  and ask for forgiveness from Him for their shortcomings.  For who,  but Allah,  can forgive sins?   (And Allah loves those) who do not knowingly persist in the wrongs they did.   These will be rewarded with forgiveness from Allah,  and with Gardens beneath which canals flow,  and they will reside therein forever!   How excellent is the reward of those who do good deeds!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 54: When those come to you who believe in Our Signs,  say: "Peace be on you!  Your Lord had inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy.  Verily if any of you did evil in ignorance,  and thereafter repented and amended (his conduct),  Lo! He is Oft-Forgiving,  Most Merciful."

Your Statements: However now, I`m pregnant. I know that abortion is haram but my family , as much as his family will not accept it(family honour).
So if I have an abortion, I would have sin twice, Zina and abortion. I suppose I should keep the baby.

My dear and beloved sister in Islam, as much as ‘zina’ is listed amongst the gravest sins in Islam, abortion or the murder of an absolutely innocent soul is an even bigger sin and crime in the Sight of Allah Subhanah!  It is bad enough that one in one’s ignorance of Allah’s Laws was swayed by their emotions and desires and transgressed His prescribed boundaries by committing ‘zina’; but to intentionally abort and murder the unborn baby which resulted from the act of zina only to cover the sin of zina, or to murder an innocent soul to save one’s family’s honor in front of this world would be a sin and crime beyond compare in the Sight and Scales of Justice of the Lord Most High.

When one has committed a mistake or made an error, it is only right that one manifest one’s repentance by paying the consequences that result from that error!

My dear and beloved Sister, fear Allah and His Tumultuous Day of Accounting when every individual will be brought forth in His Majestic Presence to give a full accounting of their deeds.  My dear and beloved Sister, fear your Lord Creator and His Wrath, and regardless of the fears you might have today about an unwed girl delivering a baby out of wedlock, as your brothers and sincere well-wishers in Islam we assure you in light of the Guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah, that in comparison to the utter disgrace and punishment the guilty ones will inevitably experience on the Day of Judgment, the shame and dishonor one fears of this world is miniscule and insignificant!

Your Statement: I suppose I should keep the baby.
Without an iota of a doubt, regardless of what taunts and dishonor one fears the people of this world might shower on an unwed mother who has given birth to a child out of wedlock, never ever even think about committing the grave sin of murdering an innocent unborn soul to cover the sin one did in one’s past!

As your brothers and sincere well wishers in faith we assure you in light of the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah that the trials of this world are absolutely insignificant to the trial the guilty ones would face in the Presence of their Lord Most Majestic on an Inevitable and Tumultuous Day!

Your Statement: But it is very frightening bevause I dont want my baby to be wothout a father.
Delivering and keeping a baby out of wedlock is obviously not a perfect situation; but let not the fright of facing this imperfect situation in the transitory life of this world seduce you to commit the grave crime of murder …..for without an iota of a doubt, the fright, fear, wrath, and punishments one would have to inevitably face in the Presence of the Lord Most High on the Day of Judgment will be far-far severe and unbearable.

My dear and beloved Sister in Islam, regardless of the dishonor, grief, and shame one fears one might have to face in delivering the baby out of wedlock, manifest your repentance to your Lord by delivering the innocent baby that Allah Subhanah has Willed to grow in your womb.  Allah is our witness sister, murdering an innocent soul only to cover one’s past sin is not even an option!

As your brothers and sincere well-wishers in faith, we implore you in the Name of Allah to fear Him and His Day of Accounting, and let not the fear of an impending and simple trial of this short and transitory life ruin your eternal and everlasting Hereafter.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
